The fifth round of the 2025 FIM Superbike World Championship (WorldSBK) saw BMW Motorrad Motorsport and the ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team heading to Most, Czech Republic, a weekend marked by brilliance from reigning world champion Toprak Razgatlioglu and misfortune for teammate Michael van der Mark.

Razgatlioglu delivered a sensational performance aboard the BMW M 1000 RR, topping every practice session, claiming pole position, and securing dominant wins in Race 1 and the Superpole Race. He set the fastest lap in all three races and shattered previous lap records in a near-perfect outing.

The only blemish came in Race 2, where Razgatlioglu was on track to complete a hat-trick before Nicolò Bulega (Ducati) snatched the win in a dramatic finish, beating Toprak by just 0.027 seconds at the line.

“The weekend started amazingly. We took pole and won two races,” said Razgatlioglu. “In Race 2, I felt something strange on the last lap, some cut on the straight, and we lost P1. But overall, we collected important points for the championship.”

Meanwhile, teammate Michael van der Mark endured a frustrating weekend. After his best lap in Superpole was cancelled due to a yellow flag, the Dutch rider was forced to start from 15th on the grid. A multi-rider crash at Turn 1 in Race 1 forced him to retire. He finished 13th and 14th on Sunday despite early promise in free practice sessions.

“We started strong in FP1 and FP2. But the yellow flag in Superpole hurt us. In Race 1, I got caught in someone else’s crash. After that, I struggled with the bike in both remaining races. It was a strange end to what began as a good weekend,” van der Mark commented.

BMW Motorsport Director Sven Blusch praised the team’s effort: “What a weekend! Toprak was outstanding. Two wins, pole, fastest laps – only a few hundredths denied us the third win. The progress since Cremona is clear. While Mickey was unlucky, the potential is there. We’re heading to Misano with confidence and motivation to close the gap in the standings.”

BMW’s stellar weekend at Most reduces the points deficit in both the riders’ and manufacturers’ championships, positioning Razgatlioglu and the team as serious title contenders as the championship moves to Misano, Italy, for Round 6.
