GASGAS Factory Racing Star Secures Overall Victory on Day Two and Dominates Enduro2 Class
GASGAS Factory Racing’s Andrea Verona made a triumphant return to EnduroGP at round four, securing an overall victory on day two and winning the Enduro2 class on both days on home soil.
Following a six-week break in the FIM EnduroGP World Championship calendar, the Italian rider thrilled his fans in Bettola, extending his lead in the Enduro2 championship and holding onto second place in the overall EnduroGP standings.
Round four of the 2024 EnduroGP season was especially significant for Andrea Verona, as it was his home grand prix in Bettola, Italy. Despite a strong start in the Super Test on Friday night, a critical mistake prevented him from leading the timesheets.
Verona bags EnduroGP victory on day two in Italy and double Enduro2 win
Verona quickly made up for it on Saturday, winning the first test of the day. Despite some errors in subsequent tests that cost him the overall win, he managed to secure victory in the Enduro2 class and finished third in EnduroGP, buoyed by the enthusiastic support of his home crowd.
Determined to dominate on Sunday, Verona overcame challenging conditions due to heavy rain, showing remarkable speed and skill. His consistent performance, placing in the top two on nearly every test, led to his second overall EnduroGP victory of the season, much to the delight of the Italian fans.
With his sixth consecutive win in the Enduro2 class this year, Verona now leads by 39 points over his nearest rival. He also maintains second place in the overall EnduroGP standings, with three rounds remaining.
GP of Italy saw thousands of fans show their support for Andrea
In a statement, Andrea Verona expressed his joy: “To win the overall on day two at my home GP is an unbelievable feeling! I put up a fight all day for the win and managed to make a decent gap. I nearly lost it when I crashed near the end of the day, but I went full gas on the final test and managed to get back on top!”
He continues: “Saturday was an up-and-down day with some good results, but I just made too many mistakes. Overall though, I’m super happy to have won at home and the support of the fans has been incredible, it made all the difference.”
