After heaps of speculation, Kawasaki has officially launched the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4R in the United States.

Coming with three variants; ZX-4R, ZX-4R SE and ZX-4RR, these latest motorcycles are likely to shape the international motorcycle market.

Notably, this Ninja ZX-4R has nothing to do with the existing Ninja 400. Although both models feature a 400cc engine, the Ninja ZX-4R is a four-inline engine.

According to Kawasaki, this Ninja ZX-4R offers 79.1hp with the help of Ram-Air.

The engine part houses a 399cc 4-stroke DOHC platform with liquid cooling. It offers a ‘rev limit’ of over 15,000rpm. Engine power is channelled to the rear tires through a 6-speed transmission with the help of a wet clutch.

Interestingly, Kawasaki maintained the same frame as the ZX-25R. The company stated that the frame is able to withstand the high rev-hungry platform.

The suspension package features a Showa SFF-BP fork at the front and a ‘horizontal back-link type suspension at the rear.

However, the Showa suspension features differ according to the variant with the ZX-4R SE and ZX-4RR variants. The former offers adjustable front forks (preload) while the RR version is equipped also with Showa BFRC-lite shock absorbers similar to those found on the ZX-10R.

The braking system features twin 290mm front and 220mm rear brake discs flanked by 4-pot front and 2-pot rear radial brake callipers.

The electronic package comes with the KTRC traction control system, and four riding modes (Sport, Road, Rain and Rider). The quickshifter (up/down) is only for the SE and RR variants. Both models have a 4.3-inch colour LCD meter panel. Riders can connect to the Kawasaki application Rideology during their commute.

With a seat height f 800mm, the bike has 135mm ground clearance. It features a 15-litre tank as well.

According to Kawasaki USA, the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4R will go on sale in mid-2023 with a price of USD 9,699 (RM41.3k).
