The ‘underbone’ type motorcycle or its common name ‘kapcai’ is a popular model in Asia. Every year millions of new motorcycles of this type are available in Asia, especially in Southeast Asia.
Even so, kapcai is a motorcycle that rarely makes the scene in Europe. However, the Italian motorcycle brand, Malaguti, famous for scooter models, is aiming for a change by launching the Specter GP125, the first ‘underbone’ motorcycle for the European market.
Shown with a Honda RS150R-like design, the Malaguti Specter GP125 features a 125cc, 4-stroke single-cylinder engine with air cooling. It is capable of producing 10hp at 8,500rpm and 9.6Nm at 6,500rpm.
A 5-speed manual transmission controls the engine power of this kapcai. Other specifications are also the same as the kapcais in Malaysia including the rims. The bike comes with a 320mm single disc brake at the front and a 190mm one at the rear. It also has a telescopic type front fork.
A look at Malaguti’s official website reveals the Specter GP125 weighs 123kg and comes with a 5L capacity fuel tank.
According to Malaguti, this SpectreGP125 can reach a maximum speed of around 94km/h. It is available in Europe at a price of EUR2,499 (RM11.5k).
For the record, Zongshen-Piaggio produces every Malaguti model in China.
