The history books of the World Superbike Championship were rewritten this weekend as Aruba.it Racing – Ducati achieved a feat never before seen in the paddock. In a display of sheer dominance, Nicolò Bulega and Iker Lecuona locked out the top two steps of the podium in every single outing, marking the first time a team has finished 1-2 in three consecutive races.
The Italian squad’s perfect weekend began with a Saturday masterclass and culminated in a Sunday double-header that saw Bulega take the checkered flag followed closely by Lecuona in both the Superpole Race and Race 2.
A Statistical Masterpiece
Prior to this weekend, no team in the history of the production-based series had managed to keep both riders in the gold and silver positions across a full triple-threat weekend. This “hat-trick of doubles” has propelled the team to the summit of every championship table:
- Riders’ Standings: Nicolò Bulega leads with 124 points.
- Championship Runner-up: Iker Lecuona sits second with 68 points.
- Manufacturers’ & Team Standings: Ducati holds a commanding provisional lead.
The Riders’ Reactions
Despite his flawless Sunday, Bulega admitted the weekend didn’t start with the perfection seen on the timing screens. “It’s been a fantastic Sunday. But it wasn’t easy because in Friday’s free practice, especially in FP1, I didn’t have the best feeling. We’ve done a great job, and for that, I want to thank the team. I’m very satisfied. From tomorrow, we’ll be thinking about Assen.”
Meanwhile, for Lecuona, the weekend was a testament to the development work done since the season opener. “We’ve taken a very important step forward since Australia. There’s great harmony within the team; our goal is to improve session by session. We’re doing that, and it gives me great confidence. It’s been a very rewarding weekend, and I’m delighted to have shared it with my wife Gema, my family, and my friends.”
Looking Ahead
With the red bikes seemingly untouchable, the WorldSBK paddock now turns its attention to the legendary TT Circuit Assen. The question remains: can anyone break the stranglehold that the Aruba.it duo has placed on the 2026 season?
For now, Ducati celebrates a golden chapter in their racing heritage, one that sets a new, towering benchmark for every other factory team on the grid.
