The second National Round-Track Motorcycle Racing Championship 2026 kicks off in southern Vietnam on Friday, 20 February, at Can Tho Stadium, promising a full day of high-energy racing and a festive atmosphere for motorsport fans.
Organisers expect around 60 athletes to compete across both professional and amateur categories, creating a diverse and competitive field. The race format will see riders compete in small groups of three to four per heat, with the top two from each group progressing through the rounds, ensuring fast-paced and elimination-style action throughout the event.
According to Truong Cong Quoc Viet, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Can Tho City, the championship will highlight the skill and determination of talented racers from across the country as they battle for top honours. He noted that the competition is designed not only to showcase sporting excellence but also to deliver thrilling entertainment for spectators.
The championship forms part of the wider “Celebrating the Glorious Party. Celebrating the Year of the Horse 2026” festivities, adding a celebratory cultural dimension to the sporting event. By integrating motorsport into the Lunar New Year celebrations, the organisers aim to attract both dedicated racing enthusiasts and families looking for festive activities.
Can Tho Stadium has hosted motorcycle racing events during the Lunar New Year period for many years, steadily building its reputation as a key venue for round-track competitions in Vietnam. Over time, these races have evolved beyond traditional sporting contests into a distinctive form of public entertainment that regularly attracts large, enthusiastic crowds eager to support their favourite riders.
The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Can Tho City, in collaboration with the Vietnam Cycling and Motor Sports Federation, organises the 2026 edition to promote grassroots motorsport development while strengthening the local sporting calendar.
A vibrant festival backdrop, a competitive rider line-up, and an elimination race format designed to maximise excitement position the second National Round-Track Motorcycle Racing Championship in Can Tho to deliver an electrifying spectacle as the 2026 season gets underway.
