Kuala Lumpur isn’t just hosting a season launch this February, it’s throwing a full-blown party.

On 7 February, the space around the Petronas Twin Towers will swap its usual evening calm for roaring engines, flashing lights and live music. MotoGP kicks off its 2026 season in the most untraditional way possible. Instead of a closed-door presentation or a quiet media event, the championship is opening the gates to fans and turning the heart of the city into a festival headlined by The Script, international DJ PAWSA and Malaysia’s own pop trio DOLLA.

And somehow, it’s all free.

As the sun goes down, the crowd will gather in KLCC while riders, teams and machines step out of the paddock and into the city. Fans won’t just watch from afar. They’ll see the stars of the grid up close, catch team unveilings and feel the buzz of an urban bike run weaving through the streets. It’s the kind of atmosphere that feels less like a formal launch and more like race weekend came early.

The music is set to carry the night. The Script brings their arena-sized anthems and emotional sing-alongs, the kind that have filled stadiums around the world for years. Frontman Danny O’Donoghue says the band can’t wait to perform in Kuala Lumpur. He called it the perfect way to kick off the year.

Later, PAWSA will take over with a high-energy DJ set built for late-night dancing, while DOLLA add a strong local flavour with the polished pop sound that has made them one of Malaysia’s biggest acts.

MotoGP’s organisers say the idea is simple. They want to bring the sport closer to the fans and make the start of the season feel like a celebration, not just a ceremony. By mixing world-class music with the spectacle of premier-class racing, they’re betting on a night that appeals just as much to casual citygoers as it does to hardcore race fans.

The energy won’t be limited to one evening either. In the days leading up to the launch, KLCC Shopping Mall will host a dedicated fan zone filled with interactive displays and immersive experiences. This gives visitors a chance to dive into the world of MotoGP before the main show even begins.

By the time the night ends, the city centre will have seen guitars, turntables and race bikes share the same stage, something you don’t get at most motorsport events.

For one night, Kuala Lumpur becomes more than just another stop on the calendar. It becomes the centre of the MotoGP world, where music meets motorsport and the new season begins with a bang.
