Red Bull KTM Factory Racing couldn’t have scripted a stronger opening to the 2026 AMA Supercross Championship, as Eli Tomac powered to victory in the Anaheim 1 Main Event and Jorge Prado backed it up with a breakthrough podium on his Supercross debut.

Under the lights at Angel Stadium, Tomac delivered a composed and authoritative ride to claim the first win of the season, his 54th career victory in the premier class, while Prado’s third-place finish capped off a memorable night for the Austrian manufacturer with a double podium result.

Tomac Delivers in Debut Season with KTM

Tomac arrived at Anaheim carrying the weight of expectation following his high-profile switch to Red Bull KTM Factory Racing, and he answered it immediately. The two-time 450SX champion topped the opening qualifying session, stayed sharp through the heats, and then controlled the Main Event from the front after taking over the lead early.

Once out front, Tomac never looked under pressure. He managed traffic, kept his rhythm, and built just enough of a buffer to secure the win without unnecessary risk, crossing the line 1.47 seconds clear of Ken Roczen.

For Tomac, it marked not just a victory, but validation of months of development work between rider and team.

Prado Shines in Supercross Debut

While Tomac delivered experience, Jorge Prado delivered surprise.

The multiple-time MXGP world champion entered Anaheim with limited Supercross race experience, yet immediately proved he belongs. After qualifying inside the top six, Prado grabbed the holeshot in his heat race and went on to claim the win, before repeating the feat in the Main Event and riding a smart, mistake-free race to third.

It was Prado’s first Supercross podium and a statement that his transition from outdoor and Grand Prix racing to stadium Supercross is already well underway.

Plessinger Fights Back After Early Drama

The night was less straightforward for Aaron Plessinger, but no less impressive in its own way.

After leading early in his heat race, Plessinger was caught up in contact that dropped him into the Last Chance Qualifier. From there, he responded in trademark fashion, winning the LCQ, charging through the field in the Main Event, and salvaging a solid 10th-place finish after starting from the back.

It was a gritty recovery ride that kept Plessinger firmly in the championship conversation despite a chaotic opening round.

KTM Set the Early Benchmark

With a win, a podium, and a strong comeback performance, Red Bull KTM Factory Racing leave Anaheim as the early reference point of the 2026 season.

Tomac leads the standings, Prado has announced himself as a contender, and Plessinger has already demonstrated resilience, all signs of a team firing on multiple fronts.

Next up is San Diego, where the championship momentum will be tested once again.
