The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a weather alert for thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds across several states this morning, warning the public to remain cautious as unstable weather conditions persist.

In a statement released earlier today, MetMalaysia reported that severe weather is expected to hit Pahang, the Klang Valley, Negeri Sembilan, and Melaka.

“Thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds are expected in Bera, Pahang, while in Selangor, the areas of Klang, Petaling, Kuala Langat, Hulu Langat and Sepang are affected. The same situation is also expected to occur throughout Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, Negeri Sembilan and Melaka,” the statement said.

Rough Sea Warning Issued for Northern and East Coast Waters

MetMalaysia has also issued a Category One strong winds and rough seas warning for coastal waters off Terengganu, Kelantan, Perlis, Kedah, Penang, Perak and Selangor.

According to the department, the strong winds and choppy sea conditions pose risks to small boats, marine recreational activities, and sea sports.

A rise in sea levels is also predicted along waters off Terengganu and Kelantan and is expected to last until tomorrow.

Continuous Rain Warnings Still in Effect

Previously, MetMalaysia placed several areas under a continuous rain warning (danger level), effective until 25 November 2025. The affected locations include:

  • Kedah: Kulim, Bandar Baharu
  • Penang
  • Perak: Kerian, Larut, Matang & Selama, Manjung, Central Perak, Bagan Datuk, Hilir Perak
  • Kelantan: Tumpat, Pasir Mas, Kota Bharu, Bachok, Pasir Puteh

The continuous rain (severe) warning remains active until the same date for:

  • Perlis
  • Kedah: Langkawi, Kubang Pasu, Kota Setar, Pokok Sena, Padang Terap, Yan, Pendang, Kuala Muda, Sik, Baling
  • Perak: Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Kampar, Batang Padang, Muallim
  • Kelantan: Jeli, Tanah Merah, Machang, Kuala Krai
  • Terengganu: Besut, Setiu, Kuala Nerus, Hulu Terengganu, Kuala Terengganu, Marang, Dungun
  • Sabak Bernam, Selangor

Meanwhile, the continuous rain (alert) warning is active until 24 November 2025 for:

  • Pahang: Cameron Highlands, Lipis, Raub, Bentong, Temerloh
  • Selangor: Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Gombak

This same alert is also extended until 26 November 2025 for:

  • Gua Musang, Kelantan
  • Kemaman, Terengganu

MetMalaysia advises the public to monitor official forecasts, stay alert to changing weather conditions and follow safety guidelines, especially those in flood-prone and coastal areas.
