Hero MotoCorp used EICMA 2025 to stage the most sweeping electric showcase in its history. Under the VIDA brand, the company revealed a full spectrum of electric scooters, micro-EVs, conceptual motorcycles, and off-road electric machines, presenting a unified vision of mobility that goes far beyond replacing petrol bikes with battery-powered equivalents.

VIDA Novus: A New Era of Urban and Personal Mobility

One of the show’s biggest surprises was the debut of VIDA Novus, Hero’s experimental family of light electric vehicles. Instead of sticking to traditional two-wheel design, Novus explores entirely new forms of mobility.

The NEX 1 represents Hero’s vision of portable transport. It is a small, ultra-light electric companion meant to move with the rider rather than simply move the rider. Its compact form factor makes it ideal for last-mile connections and hybrid commuting.

The NEX 2 takes a different direction as a self-balancing electric trike built for crowded city streets. With its three-wheel stability and narrow footprint, it blends motorcycle engagement with the calm, confident handling of an urban runabout.

The most radical of the trio is the NEX 3, a fully enclosed micro-EV designed for all-weather use. Sleek, compact and aerodynamic, it promises year-round practicality while retaining the agility of a two-wheeler.

Together, the Novus concepts suggest Hero is expanding mobility into an ecosystem, portable, stable, enclosed, rather than simply electrifying familiar categories.

VIDA VX2: Hero’s First European EV

The centrepiece of Hero’s European strategy is the VIDA VX2, a production-ready electric scooter marking the brand’s official entry into the EU. Built for real commuting, not niche performance, the VX2 offers a 125 km WMTC range, a 90 km/h top speed, twin removable IP67-rated batteries and a waterproof IP68-rated motor.

Its dual-pack battery system, durable drivetrain and practical performance envelope make it a natural fit for European urban riders. With the VX2, Hero aims to do what it does best: deliver accessible, affordable mobility at a scale few brands can match.

Electric Motorcycles Take Shape: Ubex and Project VxZ

Hero also showcased its next-generation motorcycle ambitions through two conceptual EVs.

The VIDA Concept Ubex is a neo-naked electric bike built on a modular frame, blending daily practicality with light adventure cues. With its upright stance, adaptable ergonomics and connected features, Ubex feels like Hero’s first globally focused electric motorcycle, something versatile enough to appeal across continents.

The spotlight, however, fell on Project VxZ, developed in partnership with Zero Motorcycles. This collaboration marks Hero’s most serious foray into electric performance. The VxZ carries sharp streetfighter styling, a distinctive LED signature, premium suspension hardware and a mid-mounted motor with belt drive. While Hero has kept performance specs secret, the near-production finish suggests it is more than a styling exercise, it’s a foundation for VIDA’s future EV bikes.

Off-Road Electrification: The VIDA DIRT.E Series

Hero extended its electric momentum into the off-road segment with the launch of the DIRT.E Series.

The DIRT.E K3 is an adjustable electric mini-moto for young riders aged four to ten. Available in three sizes, it grows with the child and focuses on controlled power, safety and accessibility. Its design was strong enough to earn a Red Dot Design Concept Award, and Hero plans to release it in both India and Europe.

Complementing it is the DIRT.E MX7 Racing Concept, a lightweight electric machine shaped by Hero’s Dakar Rally experience. The MX7 emphasises agility, endurance and electric torque, hinting at Hero’s ambition to electrify trail riding and off-road competition.

A Clear Message to the Market: Hero Is Now an EV Contender

For years, Hero MotoCorp has taken a measured approach to electrification. At EICMA 2025, that caution was replaced by confidence and scale. With manufacturing power, expanding R&D hubs in India and Germany, partnerships with Zero and Harley-Davidson, and investments in EV innovators like Ather and Euler, Hero is positioning itself as a major force in global electric mobility.

From micro-EVs to performance bikes, practical commuters and electric dirt machines, Hero’s EICMA lineup reveals a company thinking big, acting wide and aiming global.
