KTM has officially unveiled the long-awaited 2026 KTM 990 RC R, the brand’s latest Supersport weapon engineered to deliver the perfect mix of street agility and track dominance. Designed, built, and assembled in Austria, the new RC R signals a bold return to KTM’s racing roots while keeping everyday usability in mind.
At its core, the 990 RC R is powered by a 57kg EURO5+ LC8c twin-cylinder engine, pushing out 128 horsepower and 103 Nm of torque, a numbers that promise explosive acceleration whether you’re blasting off the line or attacking apexes. The lightweight steel chassis paired with a diecast aluminum subframe has been tuned for maximum rigidity and front-end precision, providing both stability under braking and nimble handling through corners.

KTM’s motorsport expertise is evident in every detail, from wind-tunnel-sculpted bodywork to the high-end WP APEX suspension and 320 mm Brembo 4-piston calipers. The cockpit features an 8.8-inch TFT display, showcasing rider telemetry and multiple riding modes; RAIN, STREET, SPORT, and CUSTOM, with optional TRACK and additional custom setups. Riders also get four ABS modes, including SUPERMOTO+ and SUPERMOTO ABS, for those who want to get a little sideways.
Despite its race-bred DNA, the 990 RC R maintains practical comfort with a six-point ergonomic contact patch, adjustable footrests, and a 16-litre fuel tank for extended rides. KTM’s engineers made sure this machine isn’t just a garage queen, it’s built to handle daily commutes just as confidently as weekend track sessions.

“At KTM we like the fast-paced life and the KTM 990 RC R is a bike that we’ve been impatient to show for some time,” said Riaan Neveling, Manager KTM Global Marketing. “It’s our link to the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing MotoGP project and the result of all the data and passion that’s flowed through our R&D team in Mattighofen.”
Production of the KTM 990 RC R will begin in October 2025, and it will be available in Orange and Black through authorized KTM dealers worldwide.
For those craving a pure racing experience, KTM also confirmed the arrival of the KTM 990 RC R TRACK, set to debut in February 2026. This track-only variant is stripped of street essentials, featuring direct brake lines, a reduced dashboard, a race-tuned gearbox, and no ABS modulator, as everything needed for a focused, no-compromise track machine.
KTM isn’t stopping there. In Spring 2026, the brand will launch the KTM 990 RC R CUP in Europe, a new one-make series designed for riders eager to move beyond casual track days. Both the street-homologated 990 RC R and the TRACK version will be eligible, with KTM factory riders mentoring participants throughout the season.
The arrival of the KTM 990 RC R marks a new chapter in KTM’s Supersport story, the READY TO RACE trademark, refined for the road, and built to thrill on track.
