In conjunction with Malaysia’s 68th National Day celebrations, the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) is offering motorists some welcome relief: a 50% discount on traffic summonses. The campaign runs until September 16, 2025, giving plenty of time for drivers to clear outstanding fines.
Unlike the usual short-term discount drives tied to festive events, this is a longer window, and the best part is that payments can be made online, with no need to queue up at police counters or roadshows.
How to Pay
Payment can be made through the MyBayar PDRM app, but here’s the catch: you’ll need to log in using MyDigital ID. If you haven’t registered for one yet, you’ll have to sign up before enjoying the discount.
Which Summonses Are Eligible?
PDRM hasn’t released the exact list of eligible offences for this campaign. However, based on previous discount exercises, certain serious summonses are usually excluded, including those involving:
- Running red lights
- Emergency lane misuse
- Dangerous overtaking, double-line overtaking, or queue cutting
- Accidents
- Non-compoundable offences (NC)
- Court cases
- Modified exhausts
- Heavy vehicles/lorries
- Op Selamat-related offences
So while not every ticket will be discounted, most routine traffic offences are likely covered.
For those with a backlog of summonses, this is a good opportunity to wipe the slate clean without the hassle of attending an event. With the convenience of online payment and a generous window till September 16, it’s a chance to settle fines at half the cost, provided you’re ready to embrace MyDigital ID.
