SYM ADXTG 400: A Trail-Ready SUV Scooter

SYM ADXTG 400: A Trail-Ready SUV Scooter

Marking its first SUV-style scooter, SYM’s ADXTG 400 blends trail capability with everyday practicality, offering motorcycle-like performance in a versatile package.

After six decades of making scooters, Taiwanese brand SYM is venturing into bold new territory. Its latest release, the SYM ADXTG 400, is its first-ever scooter with true “SUV” styling. It is a rugged, adventure-inspired machine built to handle both urban commutes and light trail exploration.

Trail-style scooters have grown steadily in popularity since Honda’s X-ADV broke ground with its unique mix of off-road readiness and city comfort. While Honda has led the way, competitors are now closing in fast and SYM’s new 400cc machine is one of the strongest contenders yet.

A Flagship with Muscle and Utility

The ADXTG 400 sits at the top of SYM’s ADX lineup, which already includes 125cc and 300cc models. With this larger-capacity version, SYM is aiming squarely at riders with an A2 license who want more power, more adventure, and a lot more versatility.

At its core is a 399 cc single-cylinder engine producing 35 hp and 37.2 Nm of torque. It is paired with SYM’s Hyper-VVS variable valve timing system to optimise performance across different riding conditions. It also features a dual balance shaft for smoother operation and a centrifugal clutch for more immediate acceleration.

Marking its first SUV-style scooter, SYM’s ADXTG 400 blends trail capability with everyday practicality, offering motorcycle-like performance in a versatile package.

Motorcycle Roots, Scooter Convenience

What sets the ADXTG 400 apart is its structural layout. Instead of the usual rear-mounted engine and belt drive common to most scooters, SYM has given this model a motorcycle-like configuration: fixed engine, chain drive, and an independent swingarm. It even includes a 41 mm inverted front fork, rear shock with linkage, and a reinforced chassis to handle rougher roads.

Stopping power comes from large disc brakes, aided by Bosch ABS and switchable traction control for light off-road capability. A colour LCD display, Smart Key system, USB charging port, and adjustable handlebars round out the feature set.

Practical Touches for Everyday Riding

Despite its rugged edge, the ADXTG 400 doesn’t forget everyday practicality. It includes 32 litres of under-seat storage, a tool-free adjustable windscreen, and a reinforced skid plate for added durability.

A New Chapter for SYM

As one of the best-selling scooter brands in countries like Spain, SYM has long been known for reliable, commuter-friendly models. With the ADXTG 400, it’s signalling a move into more adventurous territory, blending the comfort of a scooter with the capability of a lightweight adventure bike.

In a market that’s increasingly embracing crossover machines, the ADXTG 400 doesn’t just fill a gap. It redefines what a scooter can be.
