The stakes are rising, and so is the confidence of Malaysia’s rising MotoGP star Hakim Danish. As the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup hits MotorLand Aragon this weekend for Round 3 of the 2025 season, the 16-year-old championship leader is looking to recapture the magic that brought him a standout victory at the same venue just one year ago.
Currently topping the standings with 80 points, Hakim carries a solid 23-point buffer over Spain’s Benat Fernandez, while long-time rival Brian Uriarte trails in third with a 30-point gap. It’s a commanding position—but one that Hakim knows can vanish quickly on a track as technical and unforgiving as Aragon.
The 5.08 km circuit, with its blend of 17 corners and nearly one kilometre of straight-line speed, is notorious for testing every aspect of a rider’s skillset. But Hakim, who just wrapped up Round 2 of the FIM JuniorGP World Championship in Jerez, is no stranger to the grind. Wasting no time, he headed straight to Barcelona for intensive training, sharpening his form ahead of this pivotal weekend.
“There are still many things I need to improve, especially in qualifying,” Hakim admitted. “But I feel confident racing at Aragon and hope my fans and family will keep me in their prayers.”
With back-to-back races scheduled—Race 1 and Race 2—fans can catch all the action live via Red Bull TV or on Facebook. Both races will be crucial in determining whether Hakim can continue his momentum and inch closer to the Rookies Cup crown.
“Last year’s win at Aragon was unforgettable,” Hakim says. “This year, I’m focused on being better, smarter, and faster.”
The road ahead is long, but if history—and talent—are anything to go by, the Malaysian prodigy is exactly where he needs to be.
