The Spanish Grand Prix weekend became a celebration of motorsport heritage as helmet manufacturer Nolan Group and brand ambassador Carlos Checa revealed a special one-off helmet design honouring both the 40th anniversary of Circuito de Jerez-Ángel Nieto and their 30-year partnership.
The commemorative piece, based on Nolan’s premium X-804 RS Ultra Carbon racing helmet, pays homage to Checa’s iconic globe-patterned design from his 2011 WorldSBK championship season.
The former world champion proudly showcased the helmet during an emotional lap of honour on Saturday, April 26, treating fans to a first glimpse of this collector’s item. Following an official presentation ceremony, the helmet will take permanent residence at the Jerez Circuit Museum, cementing its place in racing history.
The design not only celebrates the Andalusian circuit’s four decades of Grand Prix racing but also symbolises the enduring relationship between the Spanish rider and Italian manufacturer.
The anniversary celebrations coincided with historic on-track achievements during the Spanish GP. Marc Márquez continued rewriting the record books by becoming the first rider in MotoGP history to claim five consecutive sprint race victories. Meanwhile, his brother Alex Márquez secured his maiden premier class win in Sunday’s main event, marking a career-defining moment for the younger Márquez.
Nolan’s tribute helmet represents more than just anniversary memorabilia – it embodies the deep connections between riders, manufacturers, and legendary circuits that form the fabric of motorcycle racing.
As Jerez begins its fifth decade as a MotoGP venue, this special edition helmet serves as a tangible link between the sport’s rich past and its exciting future.
