Honda is raising the bar for two-wheeled reliability and customer satisfaction. In a bold move that may reshape industry standards, the company has introduced a new extended warranty program — the Honda Service-Activated Warranty (SAWA). It offers coverage for up to six years on scooters and motorcycles.
Confidence Backed by Coverage
Effective from April 2025, SAWA will apply to all new Honda road models sold across 14 European Union countries and the United Kingdom, provided that regular maintenance is carried out at authorized Honda workshops. The extended warranty underscores Honda’s long-standing reputation for durability and reliability, now further strengthened by this customer-centric initiative.
What sets this program apart is its transferable coverage. The warranty follows the motorcycle, not the owner. It is a game-changing move that enhances resale value and builds greater trust among second-hand buyers. Owners keep the warranty intact by following the bike’s service schedule through official channels, even after selling the motorcycle.
From City Scooters to Touring Giants
SAWA isn’t limited to select models. It spans the entire Honda road bike lineup—from everyday city scooters to flagship performance machines like the CB1000 Hornet and the legendary GL1800 Gold Wing. The only exclusion? Vehicles that remain unregistered will not qualify for the extended protection.
A Move That Might Reshape the Market
Supported by over 800 authorized dealers in Europe and the UK, Honda strengthens its lead in customer service and support. With one of the longest manufacturer-backed warranties, it reaffirms its focus on quality and may pressure rivals to match.
This move could signal a shift in the motorcycle industry, where long-term reliability and peace of mind become the norm.
