BMW Motorrad has officially unveiled the 2025 BMW R 1300 R, a dynamic new roadster that builds on the legacy of its predecessor with significant upgrades in power, handling, and technology.

Available in four distinct variants, the Basic, Exclusive, Performance, and Option 719 Kilauea, the R 1300 R showcases BMW’s latest engineering advancements while retaining the signature boxer engine that enthusiasts love.

At the heart of the R 1300 R lies a 1,300 cc boxer-twin engine, generating an impressive 145 hp at 7,750 rpm and 149 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm. This marks a notable increase over the previous R 1250 model’s 136 hp and 143 Nm, making it the most powerful boxer engine BMW Motorrad has ever produced. The redline is set at 9,000 rpm, ensuring an exhilarating ride.

The bike comes standard with three riding modes which are Road, Rain, and Eco, with an intuitive pre-selection feature that allows riders to switch modes without cycling through options. The optional Riding Modes Pro adds “Dynamic” and “Dynamic Pro” modes, all adjustable on the fly. Additionally, the Automated Shift Assistant (ASA) enables seamless clutch operation and manual or automated shifting, embodying BMW’s “Simplify your ride” philosophy.

The chassis and suspension have also received major upgrades. The traditional tubular steel frame has been replaced with a new sheet metal steel main frame, improving stiffness and optimizing weight distribution for better handling. A 47 mm upside-down fork enhances front-end stability, while the revised EVO Paralever rear suspension sharpens cornering precision. The new hollow-spoke cast wheels contribute to a 1.4 kg weight reduction over previous models.

For riders looking for advanced suspension tuning, the optional Dynamic Suspension Adjustment (DSA) electronically adjusts damping, spring rate, and load compensation based on riding conditions. This innovation makes the R 1300 R the first production motorcycle with a real-time adjustable upside-down telescopic fork.

Braking performance is handled by twin front discs with four-piston callipers and a single rear disc with a two-piston floating calliper, supported by BMW Motorrad Integral ABS Pro. An optional sports brake system offers titanium-coloured callipers. With a standard seat height of 785 mm and a 17-litre fuel tank, the bike’s wet weight is listed at 239 kg.

Visually, the R 1300 R features a striking octagonal headlight design, with an available Headlight Pro option that includes adaptive turning light functionality. Safety is further enhanced with the standard Riding Assistant package, which includes Active Cruise Control (ACC) and Front Collision Warning (FCW).
