Marc Márquez and the Ducati Lenovo Team continued their dominant start to the 2025 MotoGP season, securing victory at the Argentine Grand Prix at the Autodromo Internacional de Termas de Río Hondo. This marks Márquez’s second consecutive Grand Prix win. This now makes him the first rider in the sprint era to achieve a perfect start to the season—claiming pole position, the sprint win, and the main race victory in both opening rounds.
A Battle Between Brothers Ends in Victory for Marc
Marc Márquez launched well from pole but was passed by his brother Alex on lap four. In a thrilling duel, Marc reclaimed the lead with five laps to go at Turn 5 and controlled the race to secure his second straight 2025 victory.
With this win, Marc Márquez becomes the first Ducati rider to win the first two Grands Prix of the season, further cementing his status as a title contender.

All-Ducati Podium as Bagnaia Misses Out
It was a dream weekend for Ducati, as the podium was locked out by the Italian manufacturer. Franco Morbidelli (VR46 Racing Team) finished third, making it an all-Ducati 1-2-3 finish, with Fabio Di Giannantonio (VR46 Racing Team) rounding out the top five.
Reigning world champion Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) finished in fourth, struggling to match the pace of the frontrunners. Despite a strong start from the second row, Bagnaia lost third place to Morbidelli on lap four and could not mount a challenge to reclaim his position. He acknowledged that he is still searching for the feeling he had last year on his bike. However, he remains confident about improving in the coming rounds.

Ducati’s Stronghold in Championship Standings
With two rounds completed, Márquez holds a perfect 74 points, leading the rider standings. Bagnaia, despite finishing outside the podium, sits third in the championship, 31 points behind Marc.
Ducati is also dominating the team and manufacturer standings:
- Ducati Lenovo Team leads the teams’ championship with 117 points
- Ducati leads the manufacturers’ championship with 74 points
Luigi Dall’Igna, Ducati Corse General Manager, expressed his satisfaction with the historic weekend for Ducati, especially at a circuit where the manufacturer had previously struggled.
“Having five Ducati bikes in the top five is an incredible result. Marc delivered another perfect weekend, while Pecco is working to regain his form. We are confident that he will be back to his usual level soon.”
Next Stop: Circuit of The Americas
The MotoGP season now moves to Austin, Texas, for the Grand Prix of the Americas in two weeks. With Marc Márquez’s past dominance at COTA, expectations are high for another thrilling performance.
Will Bagnaia strike back, or will Márquez extend his perfect start to 2025? The title battle is only just beginning.
