The Aruba.it Racing – Ducati team has arrived at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve for the #PortugueseWorldSBK, marking the championship’s European debut after a spectacular opening round in Australia.
Fresh off a historic 1-2 finish at Phillip Island—where rookie Nicolò Bulega claimed a stunning hat-trick and reigning champion Álvaro Bautista secured second place, the Ducati squad enters Portimao with momentum. Bulega leads the championship with a 26-point advantage over his teammate, while Bautista aims to replicate his dominant 2023 hat-trick at the Portuguese circuit.
Bulega stated the 2024 World champion remains cautious despite his dream start: “Portimao is a track I love, but our rivals are strong here. The recent test gave us good data, but we still need to improve. It’ll be a tough weekend, but with stable weather, we’ll push for the best results.”
Meanwhile, Bautista targets victory without pressure. The two-time WorldSBK champion is focused on refining setup and tyre management: “After a long break, I’m excited to race again. Portimao is tricky but rewarding. We found a solid base in Australia, and the tests were positive despite mixed conditions. The goal is to work calmly and enjoy riding, the results will come.”
