The Argentine Grand Prix proved to be a challenging outing for the Aprilia Racing team, with both Marco Bezzecchi and Lorenzo Savadori unable to finish the race due to separate incidents.

Marco Bezzecchi, who started from ninth on the grid, saw his race end abruptly on the very first corner. The Italian rider braked too late, causing him to collide with Fabio Quartararo’s rear tyre. While Bezzecchi escaped unharmed, the crash dashed any hopes of a strong result.

“It was my mistake—I braked too late,” Bezzecchi admitted. “I managed to miss Franco Morbidelli, but unfortunately, I hit Fabio Quartararo’s rear tyre. I’ve already apologised to his team, but I’d like to take this opportunity to apologise once again to Fabio. In any case, it was a good weekend. We had the pace to battle for good positions. We still need to improve in qualifying, and that will be my goal for the next GP.”

Despite the early exit, Bezzecchi remained optimistic about the bike’s performance, highlighting its potential for future races.

Meanwhile, teammates Lorenzo Savadori’s weekend took a turn for the worse during Q1, where he suffered a sub-dislocation of his left shoulder. The Italian rider attempted to assess his fitness during the warm-up session, but after a medical evaluation, the decision was made for him to sit out the race.

“This is one of those Sundays to forget,” said Aprilia Racing Team Manager. “But one of the positive aspects is undoubtedly the bike’s performance we saw with Marco throughout the various sessions. I feel bad for Fabio Quartararo, who was blamelessly involved in Marco’s accident on the first corner.”

Looking Ahead to Austin, with the Argentine GP behind them, Aprilia Racing now shifts its focus to the next round at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA) in Austin, Texas. With the reigning champion officially missing the round due to the injury setback, the team aims to have Savadori back at full fitness and continue developing the bike’s performance.

“We’ll pick up our work with Sava in Austin, hoping that he is at 100% fitness,” the team manager added. “We’ll try to increase Marco’s confidence on the bike, which is already good, but it certainly needs improvement with new tyres.”

Despite the setbacks, Aprilia remains determined to bounce back and showcase the potential of its RS-GP machine in the upcoming races.
