Ducati has introduced the newest additions to its sportbike lineup, the Panigale V2 and Streetfighter V2, both featuring the innovative Ducati V2 engine with variable valve timing (IVT). These models set new standards for performance and versatility, marking them as the lightest Panigale and Streetfighter ever produced. With a focus on both track performance and road enjoyment, Ducati’s unveiling at EICMA represents a milestone in the evolution of twin-cylinder sportbikes.

Ducati Panigale V2: Precision Engineering for the Track and Road

The new Ducati Panigale V2 is a tribute to Ducati’s twin-cylinder sportbike legacy, now reimagined with a fully redesigned architecture. The Panigale V2 incorporates a 90° V2 engine that provides not only peak power at high revs but also substantial torque at lower RPMs, enhancing its road and track capability. Ducati has also made weight a central focus; the new Panigale V2 is 15 kg lighter than its predecessor, aided by its lightweight monocoque frame weighing just 4 kg. This model’s weight reduction and balance contribute to an easier ride and improved stability, with Ducati describing it as “the easiest and most enjoyable sportbike” they’ve produced.

Design and Aerodynamics

Inspired by the Panigale V4, the Panigale V2’s design balances aggression with elegance. The Full-LED headlight and double daytime running light (DRL) give it a distinctive “look,” while the fairing’s passive ventilation channels fresh air to the rider, reducing heat and enhancing comfort. The rear design echoes the aesthetics of Ducati’s iconic 916, reinforcing the bike’s heritage. Additionally, new spoked wheels with a “Y” profile update the traditional three-spoke design, emphasizing its streamlined and sporty character.

Streetfighter V2: Pure Adrenaline for the Street

Using Ducati’s “Fight Formula” for an exhilarating naked bike, the Streetfighter V2 is crafted for peak performance on the street and exceptional capability on the track. Ducati has tailored the bike to prioritize stability and agility, employing a monocoque frame and the new 90° V2 engine to achieve a weight reduction of 18 kg. The Streetfighter V2 also features wide, high handlebars, no fairing, and a distinctive Full-LED headlight with DRL, projecting its dynamic and adrenaline-fueled character.

Riding Experience and Versatility

The Streetfighter V2’s setup includes a swingarm 30 mm longer than the Panigale, offering better stability in corners and high-speed conditions. The bike’s Sachs steering damper and adjustable suspension components are designed to enhance rider control, making it highly enjoyable on winding roads and competitive on the track. The riding position, optimized for road comfort, allows for a more upright stance, reducing wrist strain while maintaining the Streetfighter’s uncompromised handling.

Ducati V2 Engine: Power, Efficiency, and Emotion

Both the Panigale V2 and Streetfighter V2 house the Ducati 90° V2 engine, boasting an 890 cc displacement, 120 hp at 10,750 rpm, and torque of 93.3 Nm at 8,250 rpm. Euro5+ compliant, this engine incorporates variable intake valve timing to deliver torque smoothly across all RPM ranges, ensuring thrilling acceleration while keeping emissions in check. A track exhaust option is available to increase maximum power output to 126 hp, bringing even more excitement to track days.

Benchmark Chassis and Advanced Electronics

The six-axis IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) anchors the electronics package in both models, equipping them with advanced safety and performance features like ABS Cornering, Ducati Traction Control, Ducati Wheelie Control, and Ducati Quick Shift 2.0. Riding modes—Race, Sport, Road, and Wet—allow the rider to tailor the bike’s response to different environments. An intuitive 5” TFT dashboard streamlines the display of information, with views adapted to track and road, ensuring the rider’s focus remains on the ride.

Ducati Panigale V2 and Streetfighter V2 S Models

Ducati also introduced S versions for both the Panigale and Streetfighter V2, which come with Öhlins suspension, Brembo M50 callipers, a lightweight lithium battery, and the single-seater configuration with a passenger kit accessory. The Panigale V2 S, with its fully adjustable Öhlins NIX-30 fork and shock absorber, promises refined handling on the track, while the Streetfighter V2 S’s setup aims at nimble, exciting road performance.

Accessories and Customization

Ducati offers a broad range of accessories for the Panigale V2 and Streetfighter V2, from track-oriented components like a racing exhaust and lower fairing to road-friendly features like Cruise Control and a Turn-by-Turn Navigator. With options like the Lap Timer Pro, riders can monitor real-time lap times and performance improvements during track sessions.

Availability

The Panigale V2 and Panigale V2 S will be available in Ducati Red at dealerships by the end of January 2025, while the Streetfighter V2 and Streetfighter V2 S will hit the market in March 2025. Both bikes are offered in two-seater configurations, with a 35 kW version available for riders with an A2 license.

Ducati’s latest models—true to their DNA—combine thrilling track performance with the versatility and enjoyment of everyday riding, continuing Ducati’s legacy of innovative, high-performance motorcycles.
