BMW Motorrad is preparing for the 2025 motorcycle season with significant upgrades across its M and S series, focusing on improved performance and refined design.
Notable updates to the M1000 RR, S1000 RR, M1000 R, and S1000 R models feature Euro 5+ compliant engines and the newly added M short-stroke throttle for quicker responsiveness. Let’s dive into what these fresh enhancements bring to each specific model.
BMW M1000 RR: Power and Control Amplified
The M1000 RR, BMW’s track-focused superbike, has received a power boost, with the inline-four engine now producing 4 kW (6 hp) more, bringing its total output to 160 kW (218 hp). This increase is thanks to a comprehensive set of upgrades.
Aerodynamic performance has also been enhanced, featuring a newly redesigned front fairing and the M Winglets 3.0, which significantly increase downforce for improved lap times on the track. The Flex Frame has also seen further development, now incorporating a new engine mount on the left side.
BMW Motorrad has upgraded its control systems, introducing a new Slide Control function within the Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), made possible by the inclusion of steering angle sensor technology. This leads to a refined DTC system with separate Slip Control and Slide Control modes.
The steering angle sensor has also enabled the new Brake Slide Assist feature in the BMW Race ABS Pro, which, along with the M short-stroke throttle, enhances both performance and control.
The M RR remains available in two versions: the base M1000 RR in Lightwhite uni and the M1000 RR M Competition in Blackstorm metallic, both featuring M-specific graphics.
BMW S1000 RR: Elevated Performance for the Track
The iconic S1000 RR now boasts higher track performance and an expanded set of standard features, tailored for optimal racing conditions. With a newly integrated M short-stroke throttle, the Double-R responds faster and more precisely to throttle input.
Aerodynamic updates include new winglets for added downforce, a redesigned front wheel cover with built-in brake ducts for improved cooling, and enhanced side panels for a sharper aesthetic.
Standard features on the new S1K have also been extensively upgraded. The Pro riding modes now come standard, incorporating “Race Pro” modes with two additional throttle response and engine torque options. Additional features include Engine Brake and Hill Start Control Pro, five-level adjustable ABS in “Race Pro,” the ABS “Slick” setting, and Dynamic Brake Control (DBC).
For the upcoming season, the S1000 RR is available in three distinctive colour options: the base Blackstorm metallic, the Sport model in Bluestone metallic with matte graphics, and the M Motorsport model in Lightwhite uni/M Motorsport paired with the M package.
BMW M1000 R: Enhanced Design and Race-Ready Features
The M1000 R hyper naked bike, or M R, has been revamped for the upcoming season with a more aggressive look, featuring a dual-flow LED headlight inspired by the RR series and a bold M logo integrated into the air intake between the headlights.
This upcoming season, the M1000 R is available in a base model with Lightwhite uni/M Motorsport colours and a fresh White Aluminium metallic matt option. For those opting for the M Competition package, the bike comes in Blackstorm metallic/M Motorsport alongside these colours.
Updates to the aesthetics include a Platinum Grey metallic finish on the rear frame and swingarm across all models, with winglets in black textured paint and black-coated clutch and generator covers.
Performance-wise, the Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) has been refined with the control strategy from the RR models, complemented by the M short-stroke throttle, delivering a marked improvement, particularly in Race mode for track days.
BMW S1000 R: More Power for the Road
The S1000 R hypernaked bike, known as the Single-R, now comes equipped with a more powerful inline-four engine, delivering 125 kW (170 hp). With the optimized standard Shift Assistant Pro for smoother gear shifts and the new M short-stroke throttle, the bike offers a much more responsive setup, enhancing acceleration across various conditions.
Its Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) has also been improved, benefiting from adjustments made to the M1000 R’s DTC for even better performance.
Visually, the updated Single-R includes a new dual-flow LED headlight inspired by the RR models, adding a bolder look. Expanded standard features now include engine drag torque control (MSR) with an adjustable “Engine Brake,” a compact license plate holder, a USB-C charging port under the seat, and the intelligent emergency call system, E-Call.
The new Single-R is available in three striking colour options: a base variant in Blackstorm metallic, a Sport version in Bluefire/Mugiallo Yellow, and an M package option in Lightwhite uni/M Motorsport.
