Last weekend, national rider Hafizh Syahrin made a determined wildcard debut in WorldSBK at Portimão, Portugal, representing the JDT Racing team.
Despite the fierce competition from more experienced riders, Hafizh managed to finish the first race in 18th position, a commendable achievement. The national rider finished 40.761 seconds behind race leader Toprak Razgatlioglu from Turkey, who is currently at the top of the overall standings.
This event marked the JDT Racing team’s first foray into the WorldSBK, and Hafizh showcased his ability to hold his own against regular competitors.
In the Superpole race, he secured 20th place and remained focused on improving his performance in the subsequent race. However, in Race 2, Hafizh faced tougher challenges and unfortunately crashed near the end at turn 5, eventually finishing 22nd.
Despite not achieving a higher position, Hafizh’s performance at Portimão highlighted the significant potential of JDT Racing. Representing Malaysia on this international stage, Hafizh and his team have shown they are capable of competing in such a prestigious tournament.
This experience will undoubtedly serve as a strong foundation for future improvements and strategy refinement.
Hafizh and the JDT Racing team’s courage and dedication in Portimão are commendable, and with continued opportunities, they are poised to return with even stronger performances in the future.
