Ever wondered just how far someone can ride a motorcycle in 24 hours? Brace yourself—it’s way further than you might think!

Following last week’s Friday-Fact on Harley-Davidson, we’re shifting gears this week to explore the incredible achievement of a remarkable individual who has claimed the Guinness World Record for the Longest Motorcycle Ride in 24 Hours.

Meet Iván Cervantes, a five-time Enduro World Champion and Triumph Global Ambassador, who recently smashed the Guinness World Record for ‘The Greatest Distance on a Motorcycle in 24 Hours (Individual).’

Riding a standard-spec Triumph Tiger 1200 GT Explorer, Iván achieved this record-breaking ride with only a single planned tyre change halfway through the attempt. The high-speed ring at the Nardò Technical Center in Italy provided the perfect venue, with no worries about traffic jams here.

Iván Cervantes’ incredible ride is more than just a record; it’s a story of perseverance, skill, and the relentless pursuit of excellence.

But let’s get to the jaw-dropping part: Iván travelled an astonishing 4012.53 km (2493.27 miles) in a 24-hour period, beating the previous record of 3406 km by over 600 km.

To put those distance KM into perspective, that’s like riding from our Glenmarie showroom, straight up to Chiang Mai City in Thailand, and then back again. Google shows 30 to 35 hours of riding. And that’s how to further the distances

The previous record was held by Endurance rider Carl Reese, who drove around the closed track at the Continental Proving Grounds in Uvalde, Texas. Before Reese, Matthew McKelvey set the record at 2023.5 miles in 2014 at the Phakisa Freeway in Welkom, South Africa.

A Witness to History

When it comes to breaking records and covering impressive distances, Iván Cervantes faced some tough challenges. He shared, “The hardest part was definitely the weather because it started to rain. But this bike has a very big screen and excellent protection, which helped me a lot. It’s a very special bike for me. Riding for 24 hours straight isn’t easy, but in the end, I managed to set the record with this amazing bike.”

The record attempt was validated by a Guinness World Records adjudicator, who confirmed the final distance and the average speed of 167.79 km/h. Victor Fenes, the Official Adjudicator, praised Iván’s dedication and Triumph’s support, calling it “a true testament to the indomitable spirit of human determination and the pursuit of greatness.”

So, next time you think about going the distance, remember Iván Cervantes and his awe-inspiring 24-hour ride. It’s proof that with the right bike and an unstoppable spirit, even the wildest dreams can become reality.
