Francesco Bagnaia secured his third consecutive win at the Red Bull Ring in the Austrian MotoGP. Bagnaia’s triumph is a major boost to his championship hopes, placing him ahead of rival Jorge Martin. Ducati continued its streak with a perfect podium sweep, marking their eighth consecutive Grand Prix podium lockout.

Bagnaia now leads the championship by five points over Martin. This follows a closely fought Sprint race on Saturday where both riders were tied in points.

Marc Marquez, who started from the front row, faced early challenges. Technical issues on the grid hindered his start, and he was involved in a collision with Franco Morbidelli at Turn 1. Both riders went wide, leaving Marquez to rejoin the race in 13th. Despite a strong recovery, Marquez finished in fourth place, trailing Bastianini.

The FIM Stewards reviewed the Turn 1 incident but decided no further action was necessary.

Jorge Martin led the race from pole position but struggled as the race progressed. Bagnaia increased his pace halfway through the race, leaving Martin behind.

Enea Bastianini, starting from seventh, made significant progress to secure third place. He maintained his position despite efforts from behind.

Brad Binder finished fifth place as the top KTM rider. Binder’s teammate, Jack Miller, crashed from sixth place just before mid-race.

Marco Bezzecchi finished in sixth, while Aleix Espargaro finished seventh. Maverick Vinales and Franco Morbidelli took eighth and ninth. Alex Marquez rounded out the top ten.

The race saw all riders using medium compound tyres, a change from the soft rear tyres used in the Sprint. New tyre pressure regulations for 2024 require maintaining a minimum front pressure of 1.8 bar for 60% of the race distance.

Test riders Pol Espargaro (KTM), Lorenzo Savadori (Aprilia), and Stefan Bradl (Honda) made wild-card appearances. They tested new prototype parts for future races. Michelin provided a reinforced rear construction due to the high tyre stress observed earlier.

Fabio di Giannantonio dislocated his left shoulder in a Friday accident and was ruled unfit for the rest of the weekend.

The next MotoGP race will take place in Aragon at the end of the month. We can expect the championship battle is expected to heat up as the season progresses.
