He has been absorbed as a full-time athlete in the national motorsport development program managed by the Sepang International Circuit (SIC), under the patronage of PETRONAS. This significant move was announced by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Hannah Yeoh, who emphasized the importance of providing comprehensive support for Qabil’s promising career.
In her announcement, Minister Hannah Yeoh highlighted that Qabil, aged 11, will not only be pursuing his racing ambitions but will also settle and attend school in Selangor. This strategic decision aims to streamline his training regimen under the guidance of former national racer Zulfahmi Khairuddin. The Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) and SIC are actively involved in facilitating the relocation process, ensuring that Qabil and his family seamlessly transition to their new environment.
“Qabil’s relocation to Selangor is pivotal in ensuring his exposure to comprehensive training and guidance, utilizing the world-class facilities of the Sepang International Circuit,” stated Hannah through her Facebook post.
Qabil is slated to participate in the upcoming FIM Mini GP Malaysia Series 190cc and Moto4 races at the Superbike Championship (ESBK) in Spain during the 2024 season. His training sessions alongside five other athletes will prepare him for competitions at both the Asian and international levels.
In November last year, Qabil made headlines by clinching the overall championship title at the 2023 MiniGP World Series in Valencia, Spain. This remarkable achievement underscores his immense potential and solidifies his position as a rising star in the world of motorcycle racing.
As Qabil embarks on this new journey in Selangor, the support from KBS, SIC, and the entire racing community remains unwavering. With determination and perseverance, Qabil Irfan Azlan is poised to leave an indelible mark on the global motorsport arena.
