The Johor Darul Ta’zim brand, commonly known as JDT, is a household name with its presence in futsal, polo, boxing and ice hockey.

Based on a recent announcement made at Johor Southern Tigers, JDT will be expanding its horizons by venturing into motorsports. This is set to propel the brand for a more global outreach. JDT will be establishing the JDT Racing Team with the country’s very own treasure Hafizh Syahrin Abdullah as the team’s rider.

JDT Racing Team will compete in the Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC) next year. Future plans include a spot in the World Superbike Championship (SBK), one of the most prestigious championships for motorcycle racing.

Hafizh is no stranger to the world of motorsports. He gained widespread recognition for being the first Malaysian rider to compete in the MotoGP. Hafizh made his MotoGP debut in 2018, riding for the Monster Yamaha Tech 3 team. His entry into the highly competitive world of MotoGP marked a historic moment for Malaysian motorsports.

Currently, Hafizh represents the Petronas MIE Racing Honda team for the 2023 SBK competition. The presence of this new team allows him to compete in the SBK competition.

This also opens the door to more collaboration between JDT and international entities in the future.
