French start-up Chill Ride comes up with real air conditioning for bikers

French start-up Chill Ride comes up with real air conditioning for bikers

Many riders choose to forgo protective gear due to the scorching heat and Chill Ride has found a way to overcome the heat without compromising safety.

Chill Ride

Ever thought of air conditioning for motorcycles? This start-up from France has a lot to say when it comes to air conditioning for bikers. Founded in Toulouse in 2020 by David Stas, Mechanical Engineer, the start-up Chill Ride has invented the first real air conditioning for bikers.

Through a successful crowdfunding campaign on the Kickstarter platform, the Chill Ride teams have, thanks to the funds collected, worked on the design and industrialization of the brand-new version of the air conditioning system. Since August 2022, the first deliveries have started and a new e-commerce site is online to market the product.

After over 6 months of research and development work, the start-up continues its innovation and announces a new and more accomplished version, still intended for two-wheel enthusiasts to ensure their comfort and safety.

The air conditioning system now includes an air conditioning module, installed under the motorcycle’s top case and connected to the motorcycle’s battery. It has a wireless remote control and its support is fixed on the handlebar of the motorcycle, which ensures the management of the temperature. It also comes with a thin and light thermoregulated vest, available from sizes S to 3XL, compatible with the airbag vest.

This new system has a great advantage. It is more discreet, installation is easy, and it conforms to several models of Top Case among the most known, Givi, Shad, Kappa, SW-Motech, BMW and many others.

The air conditioning is reversible and adapts to all seasons, allowing you to cool down in the summer up to 18 ° C and to warm up in the winter with a temperature of up to 38 ° C.

Chill Ride is an innovation, created, tested and validated by bikers.

The vest works on the principle of a floor heating system. It features a network of hydraulic tubes which circulates a liquid at a controlled temperature that will cool or warm the body. The remote control fixed on the handlebar of the motorcycle, allows centralized control during the rides.

The Chill Ride concept was designed with safety as the number one requirement. In case of a fall, the vest disconnects from the connector linked to the vest and the air conditioning module,  so that the rider does not remain attached to the bike.

When riding a motorcycle, the rider has to directly confront major weather conditions. With the Chill Ride innovation, it is now pleasant to ride, in summer and winter.

The goal is now to produce 1000 copies by 2023.

The idea for reversible air conditioning is necessary considering due to the sweltering heat, bikers often opt not to wear full protective gear. This leads to accidents as bikers put their lives at risk.

In February 2019, Chill Ride started its research and has been working on this innovative concept ever since so that heat will no longer be a constraint when using motorcycles.
