Brough Superior’s latest bike pays tribute to Lawrence of Arabia

With ample history and meaning pour into it, the new Brough Superior model is more than just a bike.

Brough Superior "The Lawrence"

England’s Brough Superior has had an impressive reputation during the first half of the 20th century. Its craftsmanship was what held drew the attention of many to its motorcycles. With long periods of history and impressive high-performance vehicles, Brough Superior has paid tribute to one of Britain’s famous and controversial figures, archaelogist T.E Lawrence.

This particular motorcycle has taken inspiration from Lawrence’s favourite accessories, which is a dagger he frequently wore on his belt. According to Robb Report, the motorcycle is know as “The Lawrence”. Based on Brough Supperior’s own website, the bike’s “sleek lines are designed after the fleeting, fluid curve of the daggers Bedouins customarily wore on their belts and pictured on Brough icon Lawrence of Arabia.”

The bikes features a 997cc water cooled dohc 88° V-twin four-stroke with four valves per cylinder and composite chain/gear cam drive. It’s power output is1 02bhp (75kW) @9600rpm Euro 4 Homologation 87Nm (64lb-ft) @7300rpm. The Lawrence is set to retail at around $80,000. Only 188 will be made, as a tribute to Lawrence’s birth year of 1888.

An uncanny factor to The Lawrence is that Lawrence actually lost his life in an accident when  he was riding a Brough Superior SS100. It happened on 13 May 1935 in Dorset close his cottage Clouds Hill, near Wareham.

This new vehicle is likely both a tribute and a memorial, paying true homage to history.
