Danilo Petrucci Biography

Danilo Petrucci kickstarted his career by winning the 2011 National Superstock Championship in his native Italy. He also finished runner-up in the FIM Superstock 1000 Cup in the same year. He then became a test rider for Ducati’s Superbike project, ‘Petrux’ and then went on to join the 2012 MotoGP with IodaRacing Project. Petrucci secured points 11 times in his second year. Following his wrist injury recovery, he then moved to Octo Pramac Yakhnich and claimed his first podium at Silverstone in 2015. Despite an injury in the 2016 MotoGP, he still managed to show great potential and gained a 2017 Ducati for this season whilst remaining with Pramac. He was the only non-Ducati team rider to have the new machine. He went to have an impressive season in 2017 with several podium wins.

The Terni native continued with Ducati for 2018 and concluded a spectacular performance once again. This earned him a seat at the Ducati Team for 2019. Petrucci gained a run of nine-straight top six and secured his maiden Grand Prix victory at Mugello. 2020 saw Petrucci ended his run at 12th place. For 2021, Danilo Petrucci will be racing for Tech3 KTM Factory Racing. With the 2021 season coming underway, Petrucci has high hopes for improvements this year with his new team.
