THE ULTIMATE CHAMPION OF THE SIC MINIGP TOURNAMENT WILL HAVE A PLACE AT THE IDEMITSU ASIA TALENT CUP 2021.

SIC MINIGP CHAMPIONSHIP 2020

SIC MINIGP CHAMPIONSHIP 2020

After almost three months of standstill due to the Covid-19 pandemic which has led to the postponement and cancellation of motor racing activities, the young riders will finally return to compete for the SIC MiniGP Rounds 3 and 4 which will take place at the Sepang International Kart Circuit (SIKC) on Saturday, December 19 and Sunday, December 20.

The final round of the SIC MiniGP Championship will continue to ensure that the rest of the race can be completed in 2020. The overall champion of the 160cc category this week will automatically get a place to race in the 8th season Idemitsu Asia Talent Cup in 2021. Bearing this in mind, the youngsters are much more enthusiastic and passionate. They will be more competitive as to bag the opportunity.

Hakim Danish comfortably occupied the top spot for the 160cc category with 100 points in the overall chart as of Round 2. Trailing after him is Irfan Haykal in second place with 63 points and Farres Putra in third place with 60 points. For the 110cc category, Qabil Irfan leads with 100 points while Adie Putra is in second place with 56 points and Adam Daniel is in third place with 54 points.

Along with “Impian Ke MotoGP”, this grassroots program is an initiative from the Sepang International Circuit (SIC) to find newcomers and hone new talents of world-class Malaysian riders to open opportunities to compete in international tournaments in two-wheeled motors MotoGP.

Chief Executive Officer of SIC- AZHAN SHAFRIMAN HANIF

“The first edition of the SIC MiniGP tournament marked a success for the grassroots program. Although we have a challenge with the Covid-19 pandemic, it is not a barrier for small riders to perform well inside and outside the circuit. I am confident that this program will produce more world-class riders in the future.

I would like to thank Dato ‘Razlan Razali, the former Chief Executive Officer of SIC who is the main driver of the existence of this program and always give continuous support in digging new talent to be taken to the next level. Many thanks also to YB Dato ‘Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican, as well as staff of the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS), National Security Council (MKN) and Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) for their efforts and cooperation to reactivate motorsports in Malaysia.
