The much-anticipated KTM 390 Adventure will be officially launched in Malaysia this December 2020. The 390 Adventure is already open for pre-booking in Malaysia!

KTM 390 Adventure Malaysia

KTM Malaysia has been teasing us with the KTM 390 Adventure for some time now. Earlier in October 2020, we came across the KTM 390 Adventure undergoing road test in Malaysia.

Fast-forwarding to December, a few days ago, KTM Malaysia hosted a dealer test ride event for the 390 Adventure which caught our attention. We got in touch with a few sources and was told that the KTM 390 Adventure would be launched in Malaysia this month on the 24th of December 2020 (expected). As for the smaller KTM 250 Adventure, we were told that it would be launched in Malaysia around the first quarter of 2021 (specifically within Jan-Feb 2021).

Well if that’s not good enough, guess what folks, the KTM 390 Adventure is already open for pre-booking in Malaysia! It looks like Christmas is coming a bit early for those who have been waiting for the bike. KTM Premium Kuala Lumpur (NKS Motorsport) is currently taking in bookings for the bike. As for the pricing, earlier posts by KTM Premium Kuala Lumpur suggests that the KTM 390 Adventure would be going on sale for around the MYR 30,000 mark.

KTM 390 Adventure

Speaking of the bike, the KTM 390 Adventure is powered by a liquid-cooled four-stroke, 373.2cc single-cylinder engine which is managed by BOSH EMS with ride by wire. Mated to a 6-speed gearbox, the 390 Adventure puts out 43.5hp @ 9,500 rpm and a peak torque of 35.3 Nm @ 7,000 rpm.

Built around a lightweight trellis frame that’s similar to the one that’s found on the race-proven KTM 450 Rally, the 390 Adventure weighs 158 kg dry. Featuring a tampered aluminium handlebar and a two-part seat with 855mm seat height, the 390 Adventure ensures a comfortable ride on-road and off-road. Fuel is carried in a 14.5-litre tank and has an exceptional fuel consumption of 400km on a full tank (claimed).

Braking duties on the KTM 390 Adventure are taken care of by a 320 mm disc with Bybre four-piston radially mounted calliper at the front 19-inch wheel and a 230 mm disc with Bybre single-piston floating calliper at the rear 17-inch wheel.

On the suspension side, the model features an adjustable WP Apex 43mm upside-down fork upfront with 170 mm suspension travel and an adjustable WP Apex Monoshock at the rear with 177 mm suspension travel.

In the case of electronics, the 390 Adventure comes with an LED headlight unit, a modern 5-inch TFT display and Bosch 9.1MP two channel-ABS with cornering-ABS and offroad mode. Besides this, the 390 Adventure also features quick-shifter, slipper clutch and traction control.

Note: Specifications pointed out here are for the 390 Adventure offered in foreign markets, therefore the Malaysia-bound 390 Adventure’s specifications might vary.
