Benelli announces specification and availability details of the much anticipated Benelli Leoncino 800.
Update: Benelli Leoncino 800 Trail will be officially available from the first half of 2021!
A little over a year ago, Benelli showcased the all-new Leoncino 800 range at ECIMA 2019. Two variants of the Leoncino 800 were displayed at the show, these were; Benelli Leoncino 800 and Leoncino 800 Trail Scrambler. Fast-forwarding to 2020, Benelli just revealed the official specification and launch details of the all-new 2021 Euro 5 compliant Leoncino 800 today.
2021 Benelli Leoncino 800
Design
Being the flagship model of Benelli’s Leoncino range; the Leoncino 800 follows Benelli’s authentic style while maintaining a balance of both classic and modern look. Although components like the LED headlamp, taillamp and the 15L fuel tank look very similar to the ones from the smaller Leoncino bikes, the bigger Benelli Leoncino 800 gets unique design touches from the ground up to make it look more muscular and standout.
The Leoncino gets 17- inch spoked tubeless aluminium alloy rims at the front and rear. As for the tires; a set of chunky 120 / 70-17 and 180 / 55-17 tires wrap around the 17-inch alloys rims.
Engine
In the case of the engine, the Leoncino 800 features Euro 5 compliant 754cc parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine. Mated to a 6-speed gearbox; the Benelli Leoncino 800 pushes 76.2 hp@ 9,000 rpm and a peak torque of 68 Nm @ 6,500 rpm.
The DOHC 4 valves per cylinder with 43 mm diameter double throttle body and the 6-speed gearbox together with the assist & slipper clutch complete one of Benelli’s most advanced powerplants yet.
Frame and suspension
The Benelli Leoncino 800 features a tubular trellis frame with steel plates. Benelli says the frame has been designed perfectly to integrate itself with the overall design of the bike while ensuring maximum agility and handling with anyone at the wheel.
Speaking of the suspension, the Leoncino 800 gets 50mm Marzocchi upside-down front fork with rebound compression & spring preload adjustability and 130mm travel. At the back, it features swingarm-mounted mono-shock with adjustable spring preload and hydraulic rebound brake.
Brembo dual 320mm semi-floating discs with four-piston radial monoblock calliper up front and a 260mm dual-piston calliper with 250mm disc at the rear take care of braking duties. Aside from this, ABS is also standard.
Benelli Leoncino 800 Availability and Pricing
Following ECIMA 2019, Benelli initially announced that the Leoncino 800 would be made available internationally by mid-2020. However, with the COVID-19 pandemic, things got delayed.
However, earlier today Benelli officially announced that the much anticipated 2021 Benelli Leoncino 800 will be made available at dealerships starting Spring 2021. The pricing details and the exact markets that would get the Leoncino 800 haven’t been announced yet but we think Benelli would update these details before 2020 ends.
In the case of the Leoncino 800 Trail Scrambler, we think it would follow the standard Leoncino 800.
