Honda Rebel 1100 appears in patent filings with Africa Twin engine & DCT

Honda Rebel 1100 appears in patent filings with Africa Twin engine & DCT

Honda Rebel 1100 appears in latest patent filings with Honda Africa Twin’s engine and DCT.  Also, the development of the new Honda Rebel 1100 appears to be already underway!

Honda Rebel 1100

Back in April, Young Machine from Japan addressed rumours concerning an all-new Honda Rebel 1100. The report claimed the incoming Honda Rebel 1100 would make use of Honda Africa Twin’s 1,084 cc engine and DCT. Well, we are back again with an update on this.

The Latest Patent Leak

The latest patent filed with U.S. Patent and Trademark Office showcases the rumoured Honda Rebel 1100 in detail with Africa Twin’s 1,084cc parallel-twin engine and DCT.

Patent Design

To start of with the powertrain, the engine case shown in the patent matches very well with Africa Twin [DCT variant] casing and if you look closely, the  Unicam engine head of the Africa Twin which is distinct from Rebel 500 and 300’s DOHC.

Futhermore, the bike on the patent lacks clutch lever which also points to a dual clutch transmission.

Aside from the powertrain, the bike features a new suspension design; where the preload adjuster dial has been relocated to avoid the adjuster from rotating accidentaly. We also spot a piggyback resivour which isn’t found on the stock Rebel 300 and 500.

Production likely already underway?

Details like the position of the exhaust sensors and suspension setup aren’t usually addressed until the placement of the engine within the frame are sorted, so we think the development of the Honda Rebel 1100 is already underway. Which means, it’s just a matter of time for those spyshots to start leaking out.

Launched in 1985, Honda’s Rebel / CMX lineup has been one of the popular models because of its cruiser styling, rideability and ofcourse, the low ride height. With the rumoured Honda Rebel 1100, we think Honda could set a whole new record and we are counting on it.
