John McPhee and Khairul Idham Pawi are all set for a good run this weekend.
The 2020 Moto3 season was nothing short of stellar for PETRONAS Sprinta Racing as John McPhee secured the team’s first win at Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli. The team will be gearing up for the Emilia Romagna GP and has set sights for a consistent triumph therein. John McPhee will be eyeing for a quality delivery whereas teammate Khairul Idham Pawi aims for progress after his return from surgery.
Winner McPhee is hoping to maintain his good form at the 4.2km long Italian circuit. The Scot will also want to avoid the disappointing position on Sunday’s grid. However, his win last weekend and podium last year both came from starting outside of the top four rows. John goes into this weekend third in the championship, 14 points shy of the current leader.
It was a good weekend for team-mate KIP at the San Marino GP. The Malaysian made his racing return after surgery on his hand. KIP was able to improve his lap times each session despite a shaky start.
John McPhee (PETRONAS Sprinta Racing Team)- What to Expect?
“It’s great to be going into this next race having won here last weekend. I want to maintain the momentum we’ve built. That race couldn’t have gone any better for me and I felt so strong. With this next round of the championship also at Misano, we go into the event with a lot of confidence that we can have another strong result. Of course, I gave myself a lot of work to do in qualifying, so I’ll be aiming for a better starting position this time! Let’s just wait and see what happens, but I’m excited to be going racing again.”
Khairul Idham Pawi (PETRONAS Sprinta Racing Team)- What to Expect?
“It was really good to be racing again, although I wasn’t away for too long I missed being with my team and at the races. The first Misano round did have some difficulties for me in getting used to the bike again, but I improved with every session and I just need to ride more to get the feeling back. It is good to be at the same circuit again, as I know where I can improve here. Hopefully, I will be better and we can have a good race.”
