Marc Marquez Biography

Marc Marquez

Marc Marquez quickly rose to become MotoGP’s top gun after results of sheer brilliance. The Spaniard was crowned the youngest ever six-time World Champion after claiming his fourth premier class crown in 2017. A top rookie himself in his 2008 campaign, Marquez swept a podium win before making a level-up to Moto2 in 2011. The Cervera native fought his way up to narrow down the points gap between him and Championship leader Stefan Bradl before a crash in the Malaysian Grand Prix put a halt in his bid. Marquez underwent surgery to fix his vision and made a comeback with style in the Australian Grand Prix. He then won his second MotoGP race and bagged the championship with flare. The start of 2014 saw Marquez in a winning streak and ultimately clinched the title after his Motegi triumph.

The following year in 2015 saw too many DNFs and Marquez lost out to Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi. Nonetheless, Marquez bounced back in 2016 to claim yet another Championship title to put consistency in his game plan. In 2017, he successfully defended his title and the reigning champion repeated his glory once again in 2018. Marquez’s impeccable performance branded him as the youngest ever seven-time World Champion. The glory does not stop there as Marquez battled rivals Andrea Dovizioso, Alex Rins and Fabio Quartararo to add another title to his collection. The number 93 continuously clocked stellar results for the Repsol Honda Team to wind up his “auspicious eight”.  Marquez is now on a record-breaking run to tally Valentino Rossi’s nine titles in 2020. Can the Spaniard continue his magic within 14 rounds in 2020?
