Triumph adds two special edition models to the 2020 Triumph Tiger 1200 lineup. These two models come in with both performance and aesthetic upgrades.

For 2020 Triumph recently launched these two special models of the Triumph tiger a few days back. The Desert edition uses the Tiger 1200 Dirt XCx as the base, while the Alpine Edition is based on street XRx. The Desert is an off-road-focused model, whereas the Alpine is more of a road-going version. The new Tiger 1200 Special Editions both add to the mid-spec Tiger XRx and Tiger XCx specification set-up with an even higher level of equipment, designed to enhance the ride and deliver even greater value for money

Standard Features on both Alpine and Desert

Dedicated features on these two special models include:

Arrow lightweight titanium silencer, Triumph shift assist for clutchless shift ups and downs and “SE” radiator badges.

The Engine: Both the Alpine and the Desert feature a powerful 1215cc Liquid-cooled, 12 valves, DOHC, in-line 3-cylinder engine. It produces 139bhp at 9,350 rpm and 90 lb-ft of torque at 7,600 rpm.

High specification Triumph Semi-Active Suspension (TSAS): The premium adjustable WP suspension, allows the rider to electronically control the ride by controlling the front and rear suspension damping via TSAS. It also regulates the RSU preload setting to maintain optimum ride height depending on the size of the rider and the payload. The two TSAS mode include Automatic and off-road.

Cruiser Control: The new single button cruise control button on the left side reduces rider fatigue.

Optimised Cornering ABS and Traction Control: Enabled through an Intertial Measurement Unit (IMU). Where roll, pitch, yaw and acceleration are measured continuously to calculate the lean angle. This supports the automatic selection of ABS level and Traction control to ensure riding stability on-road and off-road.

Triumph shift assists: This feature aids clutchless shift ups and down, which reduces rider fatigue.

Backlit buttons: Buttons and joysticks, which are backlit, improve nighttime usage.

Full-colour TFT instrument cluster: The adjustable colour instrument cluster provides essential information to the rider.

Led Lighting: Triumph’s stylish signature LED lighting improves visibility at the front and back.

Electrically Adjustable Touring screen: The screen can be adjusted just by a push of the button on the go.

Higher levels of standard features: Keyless ignition, ride by wire throttle, heated grips and three Power sockets including a USB socket located under the seat.

2020 Triumph Tiger 1200 Alpine Edition

The road-focused 2020 Tiger 1200 Alpine Edition is based on the street XRx comes in distinctive “Snowdonia White” paint scheme and features cast aluminium ten-spoke wheels. On top of this, the Alpine has four riding modes (Rain, Road, Off-Road, and Sport) compared to five on the desert.

2020 Triumph Tiger 1200 Desert Edition

The off-road-focused 2020 Tiger 1200 Desert Edition is based on the dirt XCx comes in “Sandstorm” paint scheme and 32-spoke aluminium rim for tubeless tires. Furthermore, unlike the Alpine, the Desert features five riding modes (Rain, Road, Off-Road, Off-Road PRO, Sport).

Both these models would be arriving in the US market in mid-March to early April. The MSPR for the Alpine edition is $19,300 whereas $20,100 for the Desert Edition.
