KTM finally delivered new race parts to the satellite Tech3 team. Hafizh Syahrin tried a new carbon swingarm and starts the weekend as the 21st fastest rider.
The Dutch GP started today at Assen circuit in Holland. With KTM struggling to get good results, the Austrian factory now delivered new race parts to the Tech3 team. Malaysian rider Hafizh Syahrin is now able to use a new carbon fiber swingarm on his KTM RC16.
At the recent Catalunya GP, Syahrin’s teammate Miguel Oliveira said he felt the satellite KTM’s were at the limit. KTM didn’t enjoy the young Portuguese words, but the fact is that they delivered new parts for the Dutch GP.
For the Malaysian rider, today could’ve been a lot better if his fastest lap wasn’t canceled by race direction. Hafizh was on the way to do a 1m34.6s lap, but his rear tyre touched the green side on the outside of a corner, so his lap time was canceled.
With that time the Red Bull KTM Tech3 rider could be further up in the results list of day one, but the lap that counted was a 1m35.250s. This puts Hafizh Syahrin as the 21st fastest rider of MotoGP in Assen today. But because of the new race parts and how he’s feeling, he believes that tomorrow he will be able to fight for better positions during qualifying.
