Honda plans on producing the CB125X and CB125M

Honda plans on producing the CB125X and CB125M

Set of new patents reveal that Honda plans on producing the CB125X and CB125M. These are concept bikes seen at the last EICMA motorcycle show.

We’re getting to that time of the year that we get information on new motorcycles almost every day. This time the news point to Honda. According to a set of new patent images, Honda plans on producing the CB125X and CB125M. These bikes were revealed as concept bikes during EICMA Milan motorcycle show last year.

The futuristic look on these bikes made people believe that they were nothing more than just a design exercise. But Honda saw that the public reacted well to the CB125X and CB125M. And so the Japanese manufacturer will make this bike a reality.

The X version is the trail model with asphalt attitude, while the M is the motard version intended for fun on the road. Both motorcycle feature a modern liquid cooled 125cc engine. Chassis components seen on the concept bikes might make it to production models. But we’re expecting Honda to introduce lower spec components. Especially the suspensions which shouldn’t be adjustable.

The patent drawings that have reached the public domain recently reveal that the production versions won’t be too different. Of course, Honda will need to do some modifications to make them pass homologation in different countries. But the CB125X and CB125M will surely be fun to ride, especially for less experienced riders.

Since these images are recent, we won’t bet that these bikes will be shown in production guise next EICMA. Instead, Honda might take a while to introduce them to dealerships. Probably we will see them on sale by 2021.

With more than ten years as a motorcycle journalist, i enjoy everything that has to do with two-wheels. I'm a fan of sport bikes and i prefer riding them on a racetrack, but give me a road filled with corners and good asphalt and i'll be there to have some fun!
