Revel expands into Brooklyn and Queens to offer rentable e-scooters

American shared motor scooter company Revel has made its way into Brooklyn and Queens with an upgraded payment system.

Shared Motor Scooter Company Revel will be expanding its service through Brooklyn and into Queens. In case you did not know, the Brooklyn-based service offers rentable electric motorcycles for riders to commute around the city. 68 of the electric-powered scooters have launched in Brooklyn last summer as part of the firm’s nine-month pilot, as quoted from StreetBlog NYC. “We have seen our mopeds become an important part of riders’ routines and an integrated part of the transit landscape,” said Paul Suhey, the co-founder of Revel as quoted from StreetBlog NYC. “Expanding to 1,000 mopeds across Brooklyn and Queens will help even more New Yorkers meet their transportation needs. Revel is here to stay in New York City.”

According to Suhey and co-founder Frank Reig, riders will be able to access to 20 neighbourhoods. Revel is also making room for newer riders that can hold a passenger. It comes with an upgraded payment system. Riders will have to register their driver’s license for a $19 fee and then unlock the nearest bike for $1 (or $2 if with a passenger) and then 25 cents per minute after that. Contrary to what some may think, Revel scooters are not illegal throttle-powered e-bikes. Riders are able to legally ride along with traffic because they have a license plate. The machines do not exceed 29 miles per hour.
