SBK – Bautista continues his show in Aragón

After a break so that the World Superbike paddock could make the long trip from Thailand to Europe, the action resumed this weekend at the Spanish circuit Motorland Aragón. With Alvaro Bautista dominating the action so far, with six wins out of six races, was anyone capable of stopping the Aruba.it Ducati rider?

 

The answer to this question came during the qualifying session, where Bautista dominated and clocked in the Superpole for the second consecutive round. Starting from pole position, Alvaro Bautista completely dominated the action at Aragón, winning all three races from the third World Superbike round of the season.

 

The Spaniard won Race 1 with more than 15 seconds over Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team), with Chaz Davies on the second Panigale V4 R of the Aruba.it Ducati team finally getting onto the podium with a third position.

 

 

 

At the Superpole race, and with only 10 laps, Bautista couldn’t get the same advantage over his rivals, but still, the Spaniard finished the race with more than 5 seconds advantage. Jonathan Rea, unable to get into a fight with Bautista, had to contend with another second spot finish, bringing with him Alex Lowes (PATA Yamaha World SBK).

 

The Race 2 results didn’t differ much regarding Race 1.

 

Alvaro Bautista ran away with the lead right from the start, and after just one lap he already had more than a one-second advantage over his pursuers. For the rest of the race, the Ducati rider just had to control the advantage over his rivals and secured the third race win of the weekend, his ninth of the season in nine races.

 

The second spot went again for Jonathan Rea, with the Kawasaki rider having to fight, again, with Chaz Davies. These two joined Alvaro Bautista on the Race 2 podium.

 

 

 

With these results, Alvaro Bautista extends his championship lead. He now has 186 points, followed by Jonathan Rea with 147, while Alex Lowes trails in third with 100 points.

 

The fourth round of the World Superbike season will happen in just a week from now, at the iconic Assen TT circuit, for the Dutch round.
