Red Bull KTM’s Cooper Webb clinches the victory in the penultimate round of the AMA 450SX in New Jersey.
Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team has had a swell weekend as points leader Cooper Webb delivered a sterling performance. The rider is close to becoming a first-time AMA 450SX Champion with a victory at the penultimate round in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Teammate Marvin Musquin also put up a stellar outcome to make it to the top five.
Cooper Webb (Red Bull KTM): As It Happened
Webb secured the victory ahead of Eli Tomac. He managed to cap within top-five in the qualifying session. On the race day, he took on his KTM 450 SX-F Factory Edition where he took the lead. He was battling Tomac for the first eight laps and was able to engage in second place. Tomac made a mistake and went down on lap nine to allow Webb to take his lead. He then ultimately earned his seventh victory of the season.
“Overall, I felt like it was a good race. I felt like I rode in a nice pace that was consistent and I’m not saying that the other guys weren’t, but the mistakes they made were definitely the difference. I’m happy, another win is incredible and we’re inching a little closer to the final goal,” Webb states as quoted from Red Bull KTM.
Marvin Musquin (Red Bull KTM): As It Happened
Musquin took on his KTM 450 SX-F Factory Edition into second on the first lap in the qualifying session. In the main event, he eventually lost his momentum and crashed into the rider ahead of him. Despite that, he bounced back to get on with his run and was within top 10 by lap eight. He then managed to cross the chequered flag to make it to top five.
“It was a huge bummer to have that crash in the first turn, considering I was feeling great all day today. From dead last I came back to fifth-place, it’s a good race but it didn’t bring me what I wanted points-wise and I wanted to win tonight.
