Yamaha may be planning to add another model to their neo-retro lineup, that for the moment consists of two motorcycles: The XSR 900 and the XSR 700. According to pour Japanese friends of Young Machine magazine, in Iwata there’s already an ongoing project to create the XSR 300, and this bike might be available in early 2020.
Taking the naked MT-03 as the base platform, the XSR 300 will add that neo-retro look that bikers are so in love nowadays. Design won’t be too different from the rest of the XSR family, meaning classic round headlight, some aluminium specific components like the cover on the rear subframe and also on the radiator, while seat and rear fender will also get some retro flavored look.
The engine will be the same as the MT-03, as well as suspensions and brakes, so the Iwata factory would only need to develop the new components to fit the XSR design.
Young Machine magazine, who created this computer generated image of the XSR 300 you see in this article, says that the new XSR 300 should be revealed during the next EICMA Milan motorcycle show in November this year, and will start to be shipped to Yamaha dealerships in the beginning of 2020.
Yamaha will be keeping this new model as a secret for as long as they can, but we’re guessing that we will start to see spy photos of the XSR 300 by August or September.
