The Milwaukee based manufacturer Harley-Davidson has just unveiled a series of concepts that will be arriving to H-D dealerships until 2022, and some of those new models are groundbreaking for Harley-Davidson.
Moving beyond the custom models we know Harley can build nowadays, the near future of the American brand will see the arrival of a trail-adventure bike and also a streetfighter.
Apart from that, Harley has a new strategy, or plan, to get new customers, not only by producing the aforementioned new models, but also by providing an easier accessibility to customers, while at the same time reinforcing the dealerships.
The plan is called “More Roads to Harley-Davidson”, and it was announced by the company’s CEO, Matt Levatich, that confirmed that their intention is to “lead the next revolution of two-wheeled freedom to inspire future riders who have yet to even think about the thrill of riding”.
Will this mean that Harley-Davidson is leaving the big and heavy touring and custom bikes?
No, not at all!
They will continue to focus their attention on bringing us some of the best touring and custom bikes we can buy, but will make an extra effort to bring these bikes to the 21st century by developing and using innovative technologies. At the same time, and focusing in Asian markets, especially in India, Harley will develop a new series of bikes from 250 to 500 cc displacement, intended to capture a bigger slice of these markets.
These new lower displacement models will be built through a planned strategic alliance with a manufacturer in Asia.
But also big news come in the form of completely new models for the American brand!
For instance, the controversial looking trail-adventure dubbed Pan American 1250, or the 1250 Custom version, and not forgetting the arrival of a 975 cc Streetfighter naked model, all of which should be on sale by early 2020 and will be getting the company of even more exciting models all the way to 2022.
If you can’t wait until 2020 or 2022 to get new Harley-Davidson bikes, then be ready, because next year Harley will definitely shock everyone with the arrival of their first electric cruiser, the LiveWire. This will just be the first of a series of electric motorcycles planned by H-D, with other ones being smaller, lighter, and even more accessible in terms of price than the LiveWire.
These are exciting times for Harley-Davidson, who surprised everyone with these news today.
