This is something we don’t see that often! Isle of Man racer Chris Wedgwood has built a Suzuki Hayabusa equipped with a vapor engine, and he hopes to beat the World Record of maximum speed on a motorcycle with this type of engine.
This special custom built Hayabusa uses a vapor turbine that uses kerosene as fuel, and is capable of producing a maximum pressure of 2000 psi at over 500ºC!
Chris hopes that this turbine engine manages to get the Hayabusa over the current speed record of 132,6 km/h obtained by American Bill Barnes back in 2004. According to Chris Wedgwood, his bike will be able to reach 200 km/h, and on a first test run he already reached 120,4 km/h.
