From renting rooms to renting cars, you can now expand your range and rent motorcycles too! The sharing economy has made its stamp and many firms are joining the bandwagon and taking part in this global industry.
From known sites such as Airbnb to Turo, Twisted Road has chosen to make a mark out of its name to come on par with its counterparts. Founded by Austin Rothbard, the idea dawned to him during vacation in a place with no way to rent or borrow a motorcycle for the roads. As a motorcyclist, it definitely left a gap on securing a good holiday. Twisted Road was the pathway to connect dormant bikes with riders to wants to rent them.
“We’re connecting the owner with six bikes in the garage with the rider who’s traveling and really wants to ride,” Rothbard said. “We’re offering people an experience they can’t have any other way.” And his idea seems to have spiked the interest of many motorcycle owners in the United States, because since Twisted Road started in late 2017, the company now has more than 5000 registered users and 400 motorcycles up for hire across 40 U.S. states.
Twisted Road takes 30% of the transaction cost off the top and riders can pay extra to cover roadside assistance. They can also opt to pay for extra services, including pickup, dropoff and gear loans. All renters are required to prove that they own a motorcycle and that they have a motorcycle insurance policy.
