Do you remember where you were 25 years ago? You probably won’t remember and that’s not really the point, because what really matters is that 25 years ago Ducati showed us what since then became one of the most recognizable motorcycles in the World: the Monster!

2018 marks the 25th anniversary of the Monster, and Ducati, proud of this, is organizing a series of special events to celebrate the iconic naked from Borgo Panigale that even has dedicated versions for the Asian markets, like the Monster 795 ABS.

Showed for the first time to the public during the 1992 INTERMOT motorcycle exhibition in Cologne, Germany, the first Monster left the Ducati factory on the 5th of March 1993, and since then managed to conquer a vast legion of fans that are better known as “Monsteristi”. When the Monster 900, the first version, reached the road, it brought a change creating a new segment of naked sport bikes.

The Monster became so important to Ducati, that the Borgo Panigale manufacturer is organizing a series of events during 2018 dedicated to this iconic naked sport bike.

The first of these events will be held on the 24th of March, with a Monster rally organised in France at the “Sunday Ride Classic 2018”, an international event dedicated to collectors’ bikes to be held at the “Paul Ricard” Circuit in Le Castellet, France.

Ducati and the European DOCs (Ducati Owners Clubs) involved in the event have called Monsteristi together to stage a racetrack parade to celebrate the anniversary in spectacular fashion.

Another way that Ducati is celebrating the 25th Monster anniversary is by displaying an original Monster 900 from 1993 in a special area inside the famous Ducati Museum, in Bologna, Italy. This unit is part of the personal collection of a Ducati fan who kept it in excellent condition throughout the last 25 years.

Lots more events aimed at celebrating the 25th anniversary of Ducati’s first Naked bike are planned for the 2018 World Ducati Week, the world’s largest Ducati rally, held every two years, which gathers together thousands of enthusiasts. The event will be held on 20, 21 and 22 July 2018 at the Marco Simoncelli Misano World Circuit in Misano Adriatico.

With more than ten years as a motorcycle journalist, i enjoy everything that has to do with two-wheels. I'm a fan of sport bikes and i prefer riding them on a racetrack, but give me a road filled with corners and good asphalt and i'll be there to have some fun!
