Naza Premira Sdn Bhd, the official distributor of Vespa scooters in the country, has launched the newly updated Vespa S 125 i-Get. The highlight of the refreshed scooter is undoubtedly the new i-Get powerplant that features plenty of mechanical updates which include a new starter motor for quieter operation, a new gearbox cover, a revised crankshaft with “24% increased inertia for a decisive reduction in vibrations and a smoother ride” along with a barometric sensor that ensures improved and optimized combustion.

“The i-Get engine, which stands for Italian Green Experience Technology, is said to be a new approach to the powertrain design and development, with aims to increase the efficiency of each element and improving performance overall,” commented Naza World Group of Companies executive chairman, Datuk Wira SM Faisal Tan Sri SM Nasimuddin.

The Vespa S 125 i-Get is powered by an air-cooled, Euro-3 compliant, 125cc single-cylinder four-stroke engine that pumps out 10.2 hp at 7,600 rpm and 10.2 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm. Power is put to the ground via an automatic CVT. The fuel tank carries a maximum fuel load of 7 litres which, according to Vespa, is good for an operating range of 420 km.

Up front, the suspension setup consists of a single arm with helical spring and single double-acting hydraulic shock absorber. The rear suspension features a shock absorber with 4 settings for preload. Braking power comes courtesy of a 200mm disc brake up front and a 110mm drum brake at the rear.

The front wheels measure in at 11” while the rear is a 10” unit shod with 110/70 and 120/70 tyres, respectively. Seat height is a rider-friendly 785mm while the kerb weight is quoted at 114kg. Four colours are available for prospective buyers to choose from with options such as Grigio Titanio (Grey), Verde Matt, Arancio Taormina and Rosso Matt.

The price for the Vespa S 125 i-Get is quoted at RM13,097.40 OTR (on-the-road) with GST.
