BMW MOTORRAD NIGHTFUEL 2017

BMW Motorrad Malaysia celebrated Making Life a Ride

BIKES: BMW Motorrad Nightfuel 2017 - Autofreaks.com

Kuala Lumpur, 28 April 2017 – The carpark at Jalan Riong, Bangsar came alive with the sound of motorcycles as over 400 motorcyclists and fans of BMW Motorrad descended upon the BMW Motorrad Nightfuel event to celebrate camaraderie, food, music and premium motorcycles.

The second BMW Motorrad Nightfuel event also unveiled the new variants of the BMW Motorrad Heritage world of experience – the new BMW R nineT, BMW R nineT Pure and BMW R nineT Racer. Created for the ‘pure riding’ motorcycle enthusiast, the new BMW Motorrad variants represent the ideas of customising and styling of motorcycles to make it their own.

The event kick started with dinner and a live performance by local band NRG, better known as “Name, Reputation & Glamour”, before the BMW Motorrad Heritage lines of motorcycles were unveiled by Mr. Owen Riley, Head of BMW Motorrad and Mr. Sashi Ambi, Head of Corporate Communications, BMW Group Malaysia.

“Make Life a Ride represents all the values of the BMW Motorrad brand, which strives to illustrate a more lifestyle and active attitude towards motorcycle riding. It is an attitude characterized by self-confidence, friendship, responsibility and riding the open roads. The new BMW Motorrad Heritage lines of motorcycles will enable us to share this passion with a new segment of customers here as we are doing tonight with all our customers and fans.” said Owen Riley, Head of BMW Motorrad Malaysia.

Embodying the essence of over 90 thrilling years of BMW Motorrad, the updated BMW R nineT neatly sums up the company’s illustrious past with a unique concept of pure riding pleasure with a classic, minimalist design, and a deliberate focus on technical essentials.

The new BMW R nineT Pure, which is the roadster reduced to the essentials, and the BMW R nineT Racer, which is the classic, old-school half-faired sports motorcycle, are both concepts that were popular in the 1960s and 1970s and continue to inspire nostalgia among many motorcycle enthusiasts to this day.

The new BMW Heritage models feature the potent, air/oil-cooled boxer engine with a capacity of 1,170cc and an output of 110hp and a maximum torque of 116Nm, combined with a 6-speed transmission. Both are also designed to meet the requirements of the EU4 pollutant class. This involved fitting the motorcycles with such features as a new engine mapping, a fuel system with carbon canister for fuel tank ventilation and an exhaust system with an altered catalytic converter that has a larger cross-section.

The retail prices (without on the road expenses and inclusive of GST) for the new models are:

Wahid's lust for motorcycles was spurred on by his late-Dad's love for his Lambretta on which he courted, married his mother, and took baby Wahid riding on it. He has since worked in the motorcycle and automotive industry for many years, before taking up riding courses and testing many, many motorcycles since becoming a motojournalist. Wahid likes to see things differently. What can you say about a guy who sees a road safety message in AC/DC's "Highway to Hell."
