At Tokyo Motorcycle Show 2018 Kymco revealed to the World its newest tech-solution specifically developed to help motorcyclists, not only to help them navigate while going for a specific destination, but also helping them to stay connected with their friends and riders.

Noodoe Navigation is a revolutionary step in the way we look at smart scooters.

Presented in Tokyo at the same time as the the Ionex electric project, a programme which includes the development of new vehicles and will present solutions that will overcome the problems we usually find in electric scooters (range and charging times), these two ideas will be the main focus of Kymco in the next three years.

But what is the Noodoe Navigation?

Noodoe Navigation is more than just an app on your smartphone that lets you share content like photos with friends and fellow riders, check the weather and see who is calling you while you ride. Kymco has come up with a navigation system that for the first time puts the rider in the center of the action, and so it shows all the information in clear and simple ways.

While riding a motorcycle, the rider doesn’t have the ability, or the possibility to keep looking at a screen to see all the GPS indications. It’s not safe to take your eyes off the road!

Noodoe Navigation is a road-focused concept that won’t tell you continuously how many meters until you need to change direction. It presents to you the number of intersections on your side of the street before your next turn. As a result, you simply count down the streets without the need to repeatedly look down. You stay focused on the road as you approach the next maneuver. During your entire ride, there are no unwanted alerts or interruptions needed.

On this rider-optimized navigation system, every piece of information has one consistent place on the dashboard. Information presentation is simple, with critical information fixed in optimal location.

All this is seen through the scooter digital dashboard, and Kymco even allows the rider to customize the way he wants to see the information on the screen. Just download one of the many customized dashboards made available by Kymco.

Noodoe Navigation allows the rider to plan the trip before the scooter even starts to work, there’s no need to use the scooter screen to enter the address, just use the app on the phone, and not only it allows you to choose a destination, but it also allows to enter multiple destinations – up to 5 – on the phone at once.

As soon as you turn on the scooter, the Noodoe Navigation synchronizes the phone with the scooter, your desired navigation options are automatically downloaded to the scooter system and you won’t waste any time.

While riding, the rider not only gets all the vital information in a simple and clear way, but when stopped at a traffic light, the Noodoe Navigation will show you a general picture of what you will face until you reach your destination.

Any detailed information regarding the journey itself won’t be shown to the rider until he stops, and details are only available through a secondary screen.

In the future, when the Kymco Ionex electric scooters are made available on the market, the Noodoe Navigation will give another step forward: the system will automatically show on the phone the Ionex charge points.

“Noodoe elevates the scooter navigation experience to a whole new level,” said Allen Ko, Chairman of Kymco. “With Noodoe, the riders gets a safer, more enjoyable, and overall the most heart-winning riding experience”.

With more than ten years as a motorcycle journalist, i enjoy everything that has to do with two-wheels. I'm a fan of sport bikes and i prefer riding them on a racetrack, but give me a road filled with corners and good asphalt and i'll be there to have some fun!
